Taipei Trip : Day 1

So.. As promised, here's a post on some of the must do/eat things in Taipei...
We left Singapore early in the morning heading to Taipei!

Upon reaching Tao Yuan Airport, we first went to hunt for data plans. So, you can locate the 3 telecom shop towards the left (after collecting your luggage and exiting).
There are lotsa people here! Everyone is trying to get some data plans. We went for ChungHwa since this is the longest (first) telecom company in Taiwan, thus we believe that they have the best reception. And well, they offer the best price! We got the 5 days at 300NT which includes 50NT of calls which is about 13mins. (1 min at 3.60NT) Your sim card will last you for 6 months. If you add value within which will extend the validity period.
No settings is required. You just need to slot in the sim card and then you will be able to access.
We have hotel airport transfer. So it's a smooth ride to the hotel. I notice there is this new service. U-bike. Which you can rent for short distance ride or just joy ride around the neighbourhood. They have a few station where you can return the bike.
We took train to XiMenDing. I usually stay here when i visit Taipei. This is the youngster area. More shops to walk around and food. Nice neighbourhood.

Ask anyone (tourist) and they will tell you that you must eat 'Ah Zhong Mian Xian' at XiMenDing. But well, if you ask a local, they will tell you that this is not the best Mian Xian. But well, it's good enough for me. And I'm not willing to travel far out for a bowl for mian xian. So, this is where we headed to!

You choose the size and pay before collecting your noodles (usually we go for small so that you will still have space for other food).
They have 3 types of sauces at the side for you to add into your noodles. There are spicy sauce, vinegar and i don't remember what's the other one.
Next, we head to the front for the chicken my colleagues love. Which i personally find it to be just normal.
Then we went to have bubble tea. My colleague love this 50 lan. Which is at the back near the shopping area. But I personally prefer another brand, called Qing Xin.
After bubble tea, we went to have our Ru Wei. They have lotsa different meat. My colleague say they should have vacuum pack for you to bring home. I'm not sure. Perhaps you can ask if you wanna bring it back home.
Here's a map to help you locate a few of these shops if you wanna try them out.
After shopping for 2 hours here, we head to Shilin Night Market for dinner and more shopping!
Actually, the train station nearest to the night market is Jian Tian Station. There are alot of things to eat and buy at this night market. The best and biggest in Taipei.
Here's a map of a few good things you can try. Enter from the arrow, that's where you alight (Jian Tan Station)
