Business Lunch

So, I met up with a business partner yesterday for lunch. And we are taking about work over it. It was really an enjoyable session for me. I learnt alot from her. 

She mentioned that being in her position (something that people won't know until you are in that position) that how nasty and untrustworthy some people can be. She is working in a huge MNC and being so, you need to build up your relationship. She highlighted that this is really really really very important. Only with good rapport from people then you can get some things done. That's how it works in MNC. 

I'm impressed by her method on how to talk to nasty people and how to be calm under heavy fire. For example on the earlier, someone was screaming at her over the phone. She just keep asking that person to repeat and repeat saying that she can't really hear/understand what that person is saying and slowly that person calm down. And for the latter, she was being accused head on by someone saying that he hate her from the first moment he saw her. She told him that unless that person decided not to work with them or that her boss transfer her away, he still got to work with her. And she still do her part. Most people would have jump upon hearing accuses that are not true. 

She is also very focus on her work. Never stop thinking of how to work towards her goal/KPI. When the party she needs to work with is not receptive towards method A, she build around and focus on the strength of that party and encourage that party to work hard. She managed to get that person to shine in his area. It's really smart of her. It's like understanding people and strategies. So, without having to manipulate them she can still achieve her benefits. Just like a game of chess, you play your pawn to their strength to win the battle. 

I have alot to learn.
